Having failed to get to Orange Bay we decided to visit a nearby restaurant, Khan’s. We have already reviewed this restaurant and it hasn’t changed much. Look here for more details (LINK) but read this update. Again when we arrived it was completely empty except for the two waiters. But it did fill up over the next half an hour.
The menu is Punjabi and South Indian food which is “colour free”. We chose from the Khan’s specials, highly recommended part of the menu and we stuck to a main dish each and a vegetable. Murgh Handi Laziz (chicken cooked in coconut cream with chillis). Pasanda Badami (lamb with almond, pistachios and flavoured with saffron) and Chana Masala (Chick Peas with onions and spices) and a portion of Pilau rice.
The dishes were spicy enough for us but those who enjoy a nose-blowing meal ask for more chilli. In fact we enjoyed the delicate flavours of each dish which often get buried once you have taken the first mouthful of a hot curry.
This restaurant has no alcohol licence but they are happy to serve your BYO. We drank tap water and a salted lassi (although this did require more salt). This is a budget meal – £26.40 for two – but we left full. We will definitely be making a faster return to this restaurant.
