Another Saturday night and nowhere to go, so we decided to watch Father of the Bride 3(ish) and order from one of our Brixton favourites (see here and here). It’s open for Click and Collect or Delivery after 6.00pm. Don’t be in too much of a hurry, as we had finished the film and were onto a nostalgia piece – Father of the Bride 1 before it arrived.
The menu comes in three parts, starters (small plates), ramen and big plates. They are clearly very popular as they had run out of our favourite, Lazy Goat. So we substituted The Leopard with extra garlic chips (very rich sesame-pepper-pork broth, thick noodles, garlic chips, burnt garlic oil, parmesan cheese, tea pickled egg and scotch bonnet bamboo shoots). Definitely still a hit with all those savoury flavours.
Next was a large plate – half a kilo of chicken wings cooked in scotch bonnet ponzu butter sauce, seafood sawdust and nori flakes. They were delicious, although if they had nori flakes i wasn’t to know. There were loads, so we had them the next day.
Last was a classic – Yaki Udon with mixed seafood (stir fried udon noodles and vegetables with fried shallots, pickles ginger, japanese mayo and katsuobushi). Unfortunately, this was a mistake. Noodle dishes with thicker sauces do not travel well, and the end result has to be described as “claggy”. Served fresh from the kitchen, it would have been fine.
Servings are still large and we did eat leftovers for lunch the following day. The bill for three people with delivery came to £41.
